Protein in a Mug? This Heavenly Cup of Protein-Hot-Cocoa is EVERYTHING!

Protein and cocoa is not a combo you see too often.
This recipe will show you that the two might be a match made in heaven.
The thing is, when you bring together your favorite whey protein, organic cocoa and ….drumrolls…..coconut cream! – you get a delicious concoction that lingers in your mouth, soothes your soul and satisfies.

I like to drink it just before bedtime, because I like a good dose of  protein to preserve my muscles through the night,  the coconut cream is a good fat that keeps me satiated and because, after I sip it down, I get all warm, cozy and relaxed…perfect state for a good night’s sleep.
This low calorie drink is also perfect for the cold season.
And when you have a sweet craving, this too is your go-to solution!

Aidah’s Protein in a Mug Recipe:
For one serving, you will need:

1/4 cup of skim milk

3/4 cup of water

1/2 teaspoon of vanilla / caramel essence

2 teaspoons Hershey’s Natural Unsweetened Cocoa (double if you want a stronger chocolatey taste)

1 scoop of your favorite whey protein (I used two different flavours, half French Vanilla and half Banana)

2 teaspoons of natural (non-flavored, non-colored coconut cream (double if you want it creamier – and if you can afford the extra calories & fat macros)

1 tsp stevia or xylitol (not needed if your whey protein is already sweet)


Microwave your skim milk and half of the water until it comes to a boil.

Meanwhile, in a shaker-bottle, mix the other half water with your scoop of whey and cocoa. Shake till it blends.

Remove the milk & water mix from the microwave and mix in the coconut cream.

Add the consistency in the shaker bottle into the hot mug. Add sweetener if needed. Stir well.
Kick back and enjoy!
(Even though this is a low calorie drink, ensure that it fits within your daily macros for the day.)
You can make different renditions of this lovely drink, like swapping cocoa for coffee for a nice morning treat.
